I write news between 6am and 8am every weekday morning for Insurance Times’s website (link opens new window), usually writing 5 or 6 stories per day, sometimes as many as 9.
That news also appears on the websites of sister titles Global Reinsurance and Strategic Risk.
I have also written news stories for The Guardian, The Standard and the FT as well as for countless business-to-business (B2B) magazines.
Tomorrow’s chip wrapper
Today’s news is tomorrow’s fish and chip wrapper, was the old phrase, before health and safety offices insisted newsprint was too dangerous to be that close to such healthy food.
But as news goes out of date fast, the best place to look is the Insurance Times website. It is rarely updated by the staff before 9.30 and often not for much of the day, when they are busy.
The first few stories each day will be mine. I usually tweet (link opens new window) how many stories I have written that morning.
